The ministry is the custodian of the tonga energy road map plus (termplus) 2021 – 2035 which lays out the key targets, approaches and actions needed to decrease tonga's dependence on fossil fuels and deliver an affordable, accessible, inclusive, resilient, sustainable and secure energy system.tasp is supporting the department of energy (doe) to develop a national certificate iv in sustainable energy (solar) in conjunction with tonga national university's (tnu) school of science and technology (sst).
