Job description
lead a group of manufacturing engineers engaged in developing integration of manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary to produce the best vehicle seat covers in the market. Ensure hiring, training, and development of all manufacturing engineering personnel.
Provide support to the plants during new program launches and complex engineering changes implementation.
Ensure the timely, accurate, and detailed completion of the manufacturing engineering matrix indicating program completion dates and status for all major manufacturing engineering deliverables, including manning requirements, machine matrix, process flow diagram, plant layout, gauges, fixtures, poke-yoke identification, as well as sewing and ergonomics assessments.
Identify equipment needs and assist in the production process development. Participate and support prototype production requirements.
Work with operations, quality, and product engineering personnel to prevent, identify, and fix all manufacturing-related issues.
Identify potential automation, gauging, fixturing, and poke-yoke needs of production processes in the manufacturing plants.
During the prototype phase, recommend solutions for issues identified during builds and assist in implementing those solutions into the production process. Follow up with production plants to ensure proper maintenance of equipment and provide necessary support.
Participate in the birth certificate process to ensure the feasibility of mass production of covers and accurate sew routing for repeatability.
Enhance technical skills of engineering department members at the plant level to improve operational contributions.
Maintain good communication among plants for effective standardization procedures and sharing of best practices.
Ensure a seamless transition of advanced manufacturing engineering responsibilities to the plant’s launch team. Support plant run-at-rate and pso events as required.
