The procurement project manager plays a critical role in supporting the successful launch of new products by managing procurement activities throughout the product development lifecycle. This role partners closely with engineering, r&d, product management, and supplier quality to ensure timely sourcing, cost competitiveness, and supplier readiness for new product introductions. Key responsibilities identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for new components and materials aligned with npd timelines. Lead rfq/rfp processes, negotiate pricing, and ensure supplier capabilities meet project requirements. Collaborate with global sourcing to leverage existing supplier relationships and cost-saving opportunities. Project management support serve as the procurement representative on cross-functional npd teams. Track and manage procurement milestones, ensuring alignment with project schedules and gate reviews. Proactively identify risks related to supply, cost, or lead time and develop mitigation plans. Cost management support cost modeling and target costing activities during early design phases. Provide cost estimates for boms and prototypes to support business case development. Drive cost-down initiatives in collaboration with suppliers and engineering. Manage procurement of prototype parts, tooling, and pre-production materials. Ensure timely delivery of components for testing, validation, and pilot builds. Compliance & documentation ensure supplier compliance with quality, regulatory, and sustainability standards. Maintain accurate procurement documentation including contracts, ndas, and supplier scorecards. Qualifications bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field. 3 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment. Strong understanding of sourcing, cost analysis, and supplier management. Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in erp systems and microsoft office suite; experience with plm systems is a plus. Preferred skills experience in new product introduction (npi) or stage-gate development processes. Familiarity with global sourcing and supplier development. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials (plastics, metals, electronics, etc.).
