Overview

The position objective is to coordinate, deploy and implement the EHS strategy in the plant, focusing on physical safety, health and environmental performance, to ensure zero injuries and illnesses, zero negative environmental impacts, and compliance with company regulatory standards, Mexican law, industrial standards, and global policies (for sites with >1000 employees).
Collaborate with the health area on initiatives to promote health and reduce risks related to repetitive motions and ergonomics. Work with the Environmental Specialist to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards and Newell Brands global standards and policies for Environment and Sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of EHS local resources, providing training, coaching and fostering teamwork.
- Support and deploy the strategy by defining operational plans to improve EHS performance, analyzing resources needed and creating a succession plan to ensure no disruption.
- Coordinate the development of material based on corporate information.
- Ensure full compliance with FM Global, Environmental corporate standards, SEAL Guidelines, and adequate reporting to corporate and government bodies.
- Participate in the development of the site’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
- Perform regulatory assessments and ensure full compliance with EHS regulations.
- Ensure on-time reporting of any EHS issues according to Newell and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of Emergency Response Plans for the site.
- Develop EHS programs based on information analysis and trends.
- Coordinate the execution of Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk analyses and prevention tools to control operations safely and environmentally.
- Support the design and execution of the EHS training strategy and modalities to achieve compliance and effectiveness.
- Coordinate and validate the implementation of Safety Management of Change (SMOC) impacting Safety, Health, and Environmental initiatives and projects, including innovation, savings, spending and capital considerations.
- Participate in purchasing, bidding and administration/control of EHS-related contracts, ensuring budget execution, site qualification, and delivery of savings, among others.
- Participate in the design and implementation of SEAL & PEAK activities and programs.
- Act as the EHS lead for legal compliance.
- Lead responses to external agencies (local, regional, or federal).
- Coordinate actions to implement and monitor the daily management system for safety incidents, including reporting, investigation, corrective/preventive actions, closure and trend analysis.
- Develop and implement prevention programs to strengthen the plant’s Safety & Environmental culture.
- Participate in SEAL & PEAK activities for SEAL program implementation, including legal compliance, filling and administration of ST7, ST8, ST9, ST2, ST3 and procedures with Social Security; support COA (State and Federal) and RME manifests; and report delivery to SEMARNAT.
- Responsible for the Emergency Response Plan and brigades.
Job Profile
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in science.
- English: Able to write, speak and read.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Safety, Environmental & Health.
- Knowledge: Local Mexican legislation NOM, OSHAs and Environmental, Safety & Facilities management system implementation; Office tools.
