the regional commodity buyer – compound is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies for compound materials used in automotive wire manufacturing. This role ensures cost optimization, supplier performance, and risk mitigation while maintaining compliance with coficab’s procurement policies and quality standards.
key responsibilities:
* develop and execute regional sourcing strategies for compound materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness and supply chain reliability.
* manage supplier selection, negotiations, and contract execution to optimize procurement costs while ensuring quality and delivery performance.
* monitor and analyze market trends, raw material price fluctuations, and supplier landscapes to anticipate risks and opportunities.
* collaborate with cross-functional teams, including r&d, technical purchasing, supplier quality engineering (sqe), and production, to align sourcing strategies with business needs.
* drive supplier performance improvement initiatives related to cost, quality, innovation, and sustainability.
* ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and sustainability goals in all procurement activities.
* identify and develop alternative suppliers to reduce dependency and enhance supply chain resilience.
* support cost-saving initiatives and contribute to overall procurement kpis.
* assist in budget planning, reporting, and risk assessment related to compound material procurement.
qualifications & skills:
* bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or a related field.
* minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing raw materials, preferably in the automotive or wire industry.
* strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract management skills.
* familiarity with compound materials used in automotive wire manufacturing is highly desirable.
* ability to analyze market trends and drive cost-saving initiatives.
* excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
* proficiency in erp systems and ms office (excel, powerpoint, word).
* strong communication skills in english; additional languages are a plus.
* willingness to travel as required for supplier visits and industry events.
