A growing senior living organization is seeking a corporate controller - internal controls & systems to lead financial governance, accounting controls, and financial systems optimization across its expanding portfolio of assisted living and memory care communities.
This role functions as the controller equivalent within the organization, responsible for oversight of the general ledger, monthly close processes, and the company's internal control framework.
The position will lead the documentation, design, and implementation of accounting controls to prepare the organization for soc 1 compliance, leveraging modern compliance management platforms such as vanta.
In addition, the role will act as a strategic partner to the cfo in modernizing financial reporting and ensuring financial data integrates efficiently into analytics platforms such as domo.
The position will be based in mexico, and requires the ability to travel periodically to the united states for leadership meetings and operational reviews.
Key responsibilities
accounting leadership
serve as the controller-equivalent leader overseeing accounting operations
maintain integrity and governance of the general ledger and chart of accounts
oversee monthly close process and financial reporting across all communities
ensure compliance with gaap and company accounting policies
provide financial governance across a multi-entity organization
internal controls & soc compliance
design and implement internal control frameworks aligned with soc 1 readiness
document accounting processes and control activities within vanta
evaluate financial systems and workflows to identify control gaps
implement segregation of duties and approval workflows
coordinate with external auditors on compliance readiness
accounting systems & data integration
evaluate and optimize the accounting technology stack
ensure financial data integrates seamlessly into domo dashboards
partner with finance leadership to automate financial reporting and operational metrics
explore ai-enabled tools to improve accounting efficiency and anomaly detection
process improvement
identify opportunities to streamline accounting operations
lead initiatives to automate repetitive accounting functions
develop standardized documentation and procedures
support integration of acquisitions and new communities into the accounting platform
requirements
required
cpa or equivalent accounting certification
8-12 years of accounting or audit experience
experience designing or evaluating internal control frameworks
experience with soc readiness or compliance documentation
strong understanding of financial close processes and general ledger governance
experience working with erp systems (sage intacct preferred)
preferred
background in big 4 or national accounting firm audit/advisory practice
experience documenting controls in platforms such as vanta
experience integrating financial data with analytics platforms such as domo
experience working with distributed or offshore accounting teams
experience in senior living, assisted living, healthcare, or multi-location service industries is a strong plus
travel requirements
ability to obtain and maintain a u.s. business visa
periodic travel to the united states for leadership meetings and operational reviews
estimated travel: 3-6 trips per year
