job summary
the plant controller is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting activities of the organization. This person will ensure the integrity of parent company’s operational and financial policies and procedures. They will oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash accounting, month end closing, preparation of financial statements and related analysis, coordinate tax filings with corporate tax and external advisors, and monitor capital expenditures.
responsibilities
* perform all general accounting duties including making journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules, ledgers, and account & bank reconciliations, preparing financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, tax calculation and payment, coordinating financial & tax audits, monthly closings and account analysis.
* execute the financial aspects of the following functions: a/r, a/p, billing, accounting, cash/banking, inventory accounting/freight payables, cost accounting, payroll, taxes, inter-company transactions.
* oversee the accounting for inventory including annual physical accounting, monthly book to perpetual reconciliation, analysis of obsolete inventory and required reserves.
* prepare fiscal records and financial reports for monthly, quarterly and year end fiscal closings.
* ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
* filing and renewal of permits and licenses related to mexican tax authorities and the accounting area, including vat certification, c-tpat, oea/neec, immex certification, etc.
* effectively collaborate with business partners when providing financial guidance used to drive the business’s sustained profitable growth.
* coordinate the financial close of the business unit in mexico.
* ensure compliance with gaap, ifrs, and other regulatory requirements, as necessary.
* provide corporate tax office with required tax schedules and supporting documentation.
* prepare daily and weekly sales reporting for corporate and other financial reporting for the business.
* optimize accounting policies and procedures, assuring internal control compliance.
* coordinate and conduct timely account reconciliations monthly.
* prepare the annual operating budget for the division.
* maintain the outside sales personnel’s monthly commission program.
* other financial analysis projects and requests when requested.
qualifications
* degree in related field required.
* certified public accountant or equivalent certification in mexico highly preferred.
* a minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting/finance, including significant experience managing an accounting function.
* 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
* fluency in english both spoken and written.
* ability to interact effectively with us parent company.
* strong technical knowledge of accounting and finance, as well as strong analytical skills.
* detail oriented and a strong understanding of principles of planning and organizing.
* superior oral and written communication skills.
* strong leadership ability; proactive, with a strong sense of urgency.
* must be proficient in microsoft excel, word, and access applications.
* proficiency with aspel sae is preferred.
