This role provides consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and network configurationDETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:Level I Support and administration of firewall environments in line with GTS security policyUpdating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizationsReporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projectsBasic configuration of firewallsRemote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installationRemote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installationSpeaking with customers via email and phone for initial requirement captureLevel II In addition to L1 activities:Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sourcesSecuring network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring accessUpgrading data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releasesConfiguration of routing and switching equipmentConfiguration of hosted IP voice servicesCapacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centersLevel III In addition to L1 and L2 activities:Establishing the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standardsDesign and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environmentMaximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimizationLiaising with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basisSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Leads a team (increases with level)Job Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS:Skills:Required (for all levels – Based on experience) Strong communication skillsStrong problem solving, analysis skillsExpertise in securely designing and implementing networksExperience with network monitoring toolsAbility to troubleshootBasic knowledge of ITIL and Service Management PrinciplesProven ability to design, implement, maintain, and support local and remote portions of a global enterprise networkHands-on knowledge of configuration and maintenance of networking equipment: Cisco routers (ISR Gen 2 & 3), Cisco Catalyst (4500 series), Cisco Switches (Catalyst 9000 series and Nexus 7k and 9k), Cisco Firewalls (ASA & FirePower); Citrix load balancers, ACS & ISE, FirePower IDS/IPS, VoIP, and Wireless Access Points & ControllersGood knowledge of TCP/IP Protocol suite, IP routing protocols, IPSEC VPN, and xDSL Technologies, OSI Model and Layered TroubleshootingExperienced in providing third tier and on-going technical support for all LAN/WAN related operationsAbility in developing and recommending strategies for network growth, security, and other network enhancements by maximizing functionality of routers, switches, and firewallsAbility to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervisionAbility to conduct network security assessments such as creating and maintaining detailed project plans, scope of work, and other technical documentation of all moves, adds, and changes in regard to WANAbility to evaluate existing communications systems, identify deficiencies, and make network performance recommendationsMust be available some evenings and weekends to provide supportCertificates / Training:Preferred: CCNA, CCNP or equivalentExperience:Level I 1+ years network engineering or related fieldPreferred: 3+ years of IT experienceLevel II 3+ years network engineering or related fieldPreferred: 5+ years of IT experienceLevel III 6+ years network engineering or related fieldPreferred: 7+ years of IT experienceEducation:Required Bachelor's in Information Technology or related fieldCCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)Principles & Related Competencies:Ethical Complies with policies and procedures;
