as a *junior controller & qa/qc specialist*at focused energy, you will play a pivotal role by supporting client financial operations while also ensuring internal quality control. You will provide essential services such as month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance for our clients, while also conducting internal qa/qc reviews of accounting deliverables to uphold accuracy, completeness, and policy adherence. This balance between client-facing responsibilities and internal quality assurance is key to maintaining high standards and driving impactful results for both clients and focused energy.

*junior controller key responsibilities (75%)*
- perform month-end close procedures, including reconciliations and financial statement preparation for our client’s accounts.
- ensure compliance with gaap and client-specific accounting policies.
- review balance sheet reconciliations and identify errors or discrepancies.
- provide financial insights and recommendations to clients to support decision-making.
- work closely with client leads and the compliance pm to uphold strong financial controls.
- assist in developing and implementing process improvements within client accounting functions.
- guide and educate clients on financial best practices to empower their businesses.
- maintain meticulous documentation and reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- communicate effectively with internal teams and clients to ensure clarity and transparency.
*internal qa/qc specialist key responsibilities (25%)1. Quality assurance review*
- conduct detailed reviews of balance sheet reconciliations and accounting deliverables to ensure:
- completeness
- accuracy
- policy adherence
- compliance with industry standards (e.g., gaap, ifrs)
- verify that all financial reconciliations are completed by the 10th of each month, with qa/qc reviews finalized by the end of the month.
*2. Quality control process*
- cross-reference reconciliations against the general ledger and supporting documents for alignment.
- perform recalculations to validate critical amounts and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
- verify that all required reconciliations (e.g., bank, credit card, ar/ap, deferred revenue, inventory, fixed assets, etc.) are completed and compliant with policies.
- ensure that supporting documentation (e.g., bank statements, invoices, receipts) is accurate, complete, and properly archived.
- confirm that exceptions or deviations from policies are documented and approved.
*3. Issue identification and resolution*
- identify discrepancies, inaccuracies, or policy deviations during qa/qc reviews.
- notify client leads of identified issues, providing clear documentation of the findings and corrective actions required.
- verify that all identified issues have been resolved and adjustments properly recorded before finalizing the month-end close.
*4. Process testing and random sampling*
- conduct monthly random sampling of processes and controls to identify inconsistencies or non-compliance with accounting standards.
- focus on critical areas, such as ar/ap aging, inventory updates, revenue recognition, and systems integration.
*5. Reporting and tracking*
- maintain a qa/qc tracker to document review outcomes, including the number and severity of identified issues.
- compile detailed qa reports summarizing findings, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
- share findings with client leads, compliance project managers, and practice leads to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
*6. Communication and workflow coordination*
- collaborate with client leads, compliance pms, and engagement management teams to ensure smooth workflows.
- communicate qa/qc findings promptly and provide detailed feedback on required corrections.
