Descriptionthis position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of reach stackers, hostlers, forklifts, and frame cranes (rtg) to ensure they are safely maintained in a quality, cost effective, and compliant manner.
this position is also responsible for responding or directing personnel to manage service interruptions within the terminal due to power equipment failures, ensuring maintenances are achieved on time, managing special projects, personnel management, meeting objectives to support service to all power equipment, and ensuring all work is performed within company guidelines, safety rules, oem best practices, and aar regulations.
the role includes keeping inventories of parts, feeding the purchasing team for parts and services, and executing maintenance hands‐on, leading the team, and developing them to reach better knowledge of the equipment.accountabilitiesacts as a team lead and coordinates the work of others, supervising the daily activities of operations team members.applies and enforces guidelines to ensure compliance and equitable application of policies, procedures, practices, programs, processes, and systems and makes suggestions for continued improvement or increased efficiencies.plans and prioritizes work to meet team commitments.provides timely and constructive coaching and feedback; develops staff and provides challenging opportunities.ideal candidate qualificationsrequiredengineering in electromechanics, mechatronics or similar, technical career in electromechanics industrial maintenance diplomas or preparation of logic controllers (plc).
knowledge of electric motors controlled by frequency converters through digital communication.knowledge and mastery of medium and low‐attention energy systems.knowledge of 12 and 24 volt electronic systems for heavy off‐road equipment (not truck mechanics).
knowledge of intermodal port machinery mechanics and equipment brands such as liebherr fuchs, terex, taylor, konecanes, linde hyster ferrari, fantuzzi, kalmar therberg and capacity of the intermodal turn, cargo handlers, and containers.interpretation of electrohydraulic diagrams.knowledge of diesel engine repair – theoretical and practical for diagnosis (cummings, qsm11, qsx15, qsb6.7, qsb5.9, volvo penta).
knowledge of the logic and electronics of danna spicer and allison transmission automatic transmissions.knowledge of hydraulics, proportional operating systems and electronics of the same system (proportional operating valves and pumps in conjunction with power units and engines with electronic power demand (pod) system).
preferredminimum of 5 years as mechanic leader or main shop responsible (focus on field, not just administrative profile).
team work ability.continuous improvement focus.communication skills.previous kansas city southern experience.knowledge in repair and maintenance of rtg frame cranes, counterbalanced cranes, reach stacker top loaders, forklifts, hostlers, port spreader attachments and intermodal heavy equipment.understanding of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems of the machinery to support personnel in preventive and corrective maintenance activities.knowledge of digital communication systems via canbus, profibus, fiber optics.knowledge of oxycutting welding structure for boilermaking.working conditionsshift work is an essential function of this job.
