Position Summary

The Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design selection, sizing, calculation and costing new and existing Refrigeration and Electrical subsystems which includes but is not limited to completing research, 3D modeling, and engineering documentation. Will collaborate with other departments to assure understanding of all refrigeration and electrical design details as required for optimal product functionality.

Essential Duties/Job Responsibilities (Job Duties)

· Design refrigeration/cooling and electrical subsystems which meet the design criteria of Southern CaseArts refrigerated cases.

· Evaluate energy consumption and work within industry and federal standards to design for energy efficiency and emissions standards. Conduct research on environmental impacts of refrigerants and other chemicals used in refrigeration systems.

· Work with other engineers, lab, and manufacturing to test existing and new refrigeration and electric/electronics and controller designs. Monitor equipment performance, identifying potential problems, making design repair where appropriate.

· Conduct research on new materials/components that might be used in equipment design.

· Perform computer simulations to test new designs before building prototypes.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:

· Degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering or similar field from an accredited university

· Knowledge of thermodynamics, understanding of mechanics, and refrigeration systems.

· Extensive knowledge of regulations, norms and standards.

· Ability to design, read, and interpret technical documents including blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.

· Knowledge of workflow processes. Proficiency using alpha/numeric data in design and analysis environment.

· Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention for detail.

· Knowledge of safety protocols required and recommended when building or using a refrigeration system.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to understand customer objectives and to collaborate with other members of the design or build teams; ability to convert feedback into requested changes.

· Ability to work independently with limited supervision and able to lead less experience designers in the team.

· English Level 80% Minimum

· Knowledge about FEA desirable

· Ability to travel USA

· Awareness on UL/NSF guidelines

Experience:

· 3 - 5 years of previous professional or scholastic experience working with actual and/or simulated environments in refrigeration.

· Experience using expertise and knowledge to provide technical solutions to complex problems and systems.

· Previous experience working in light manufacturing desired.

· May lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion.

Requirements:

· Work will be done in an office, lab, or light manufacturing facility. Will be working at a computer for extended periods of time. Will also work in a lab setting or a light manufacturing plant.
