Department overview
part of fitch ratings and fitch group, the sustainable finance group (suf) focuses on research and analysis of esg themes for companies and their debt instruments. The group includes teams in esg research, esg integration and reporting, esg analytics (ratings), and esg product development. Currently, the department has 25 professionals across london, ny, and hk, with diverse backgrounds, and is expanding to include a new esg ratings team to produce, monitor, and maintain esg ratings on debt instruments and entities.
Job description
fitch sustainable finance seeks highly motivated analysts to be trained in our new esg ratings suite and to deliver high-quality research and analytical products globally. The role involves providing focused analysis on esg credentials and performance of entities and fixed income issuances. The analyst will manage a portfolio of companies and debt instruments, present findings internally and externally, and apply knowledge of current esg themes and standards.
The position is based in mexico, with current remote work due to covid-19. Fitch has flexible work policies supporting remote work.
Desired skills
deep knowledge of environmental, social, and governance themes for corporates and financial institutions.
Curiosity and ability to quickly assimilate and apply new information to identify trends and perform analysis.
Experience in at least one industry sector (e.g., energy, building, transportation, banking).
Understanding of fixed income and capital markets, including bond and loan structures.
Ability to produce concise reports and research in spanish and english.
Self-starter with attention to detail and prioritization skills.
Resourceful, flexible, and capable of working independently remotely.
Team-oriented, with strong collaboration skills in an international environment.
Open to learning from mistakes and constructive criticism.
Qualifications/requirements
degree in environmental science, social risk, governance, economics, business, or finance.
Minimum 6 years of experience in research or analytical roles.
Financial literacy and data analysis skills.
Proficiency in microsoft office suite.
Fluent in english; portuguese knowledge is a plus.
Location in monterrey or mexico city preferred.
