the helioscope application pod consists of software engineers, a quality assurance engineer, designers, and engineering, product, and quality managers. This app pod focuses on subscription and team management, commercial and industrial solar project overviews, libraries, custom reports and proposals, and apis.

helioscope, by aurora solar, is a cloud-based design and engineering platform which lowers the cost and increases the accuracy of commercial, industrial, and utility-scale photovoltaic (pv) solar projects. Helioscope powers our customers through the design and engineering process for tens of thousands of large-scale pv projects around the world every month. Helioscope is one of our fastest-growing products at aurora.
We are seeking an experienced staff quality engineer to contribute testing capabilities, automation experience, attention to detail, customer empathy, stewardship, and knowledge to the team and the broader aurora solar organization.

- drive quality solutions and participate in risk mitigation for both existing software and greenfield features as a key player on a fully remote team of engineers spread across the us and canada
- inspire, mentor, and extend your knowledge in an environment that promotes creativity and autonomy

- as a quality sme, collaborate with your team on user stories and epics from ideation, through implementation to delivery to ensure a high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable product
- collaborate with product management, customer support, customer success, and the rest of the helioscope business unit to build what matters for our customers
- take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team
*what you bring*
- 7+ years of increasing responsibility and impact on manual testing, automated testing, test strategy, creating test cases, test scenarios, defect management, and risk mitigation
- 3+ years of automation experience (mabl preferred) including building frameworks
- 2+ years partnering with quality and engineering peers and leaders to drive improvements across engineering
- 2+ years mentoring or leading quality assurance engineers to solve quality issues and mitigate risk
- proficiency with html, css, sql, javascript, git, postman, unix, bash, and rest api testing
- strong ability to context switch between manual and automated testing providing a stable blend of traditional, hands-on testing methods and the use of automated testing tools and frameworks
- expertise in multiple testing methods such as clear box and backend testing
- proficiency with issue tracking and test case management tools like jira and zephyr
- proactive in anticipating issues or blockers and translating them into solutions
- strong ability to identify and explain the root cause of bugs and thoroughly document them
- strong ability to determine when manual testing is more appropriate than automated testing and the adaptability to work in both depending on project needs
- experience in developing and maintaining automated test suites
- expertise in medium to large scale projects where you are able to quickly adapt by leveraging your knowledge of testing principles and resources
- proficient in identifying quality gaps, presenting solutions to leadership, gaining buy-in, and implementing those solutions while measuring impact
- technical or computer science background
- experience with fast-paced collaborative teams
- excellent communication skills
- proficient in leading meetings and technical presentations
- passion for renewable energy and sustainability
