Controls & building systems engineer, global central reliability maintenance engineering
the global central reliability maintenance engineering (rme) team is looking for a controls & building systems engineer to lead the qualification and commissioning of critical building systems across amazon's fulfillment network.
this role owns the end‑to‑end technical qualification of base building infrastructure — fire life safety (fls), building management systems (bms), scada, electrical systems (medium and high voltage), hvac, and automation controls. You will drive equipment acceptance criteria, validate sensor and control logic, and ensure compliance with local and international fire codes and electrical standards during construction and launch phases.
key job responsibilities
* lead commissioning and qualification of bms, scada, fire life safety, hvac, and electrical systems during new building launches and retrofits
* validate control logic, sensor calibration, and automation sequences for building systems
* develop and execute checklists for equipment acceptance criteria aligned with amazon specifications and local regulations (nom, nfpa)
* perform lifecycle cost calculations based on equipment quotes, repair hours, and quality deviations
* drive root cause analysis on installation and commissioning defects; generate corrective action plans
* manage 3p vendor qualification for fire suppression, bms integration, electrical switchgear, and hvac controls
* lead cross‑functional collaboration with design & construction, procurement, launch, and subject matter experts
* travel up to 40% to witness commissioning, vendor qualification, and site inspections
* develop dashboards and kpis for checklist compliance, commissioning milestones, and cost of poor quality

basic qualifications
* 3+ years of industrial, operations, manufacturing, or project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
* bachelor's degree
* experience in commissioning
* fluent in english (speaking, writing, reading)
* hands‑on experience with bms, scada, or industrial automation platforms
preferred qualifications
* knowledge of autocad, vba, and sql at the intermediate level
* experience managing third‑party vendors
* experience with six sigma and lean manufacturing
* master's degree
