Sr accountant - real estate & property (guadalajara, onsite) - meztal
location: providencia (guadalajara, mexico). Hybrid: 3 days onsite per week.
meztal is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented senior accountant with a strong background in property accounting. The ideal candidate will manage the full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties, ensure accuracy, comply with u.s. Gaap, and provide timely reporting. The role requires advanced excel skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
key responsibilities
* manage all aspects of property accounting, including general ledger, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close
* prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with u.s. Gaap
* record and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, and prepayments
* maintain accurate fixed asset and depreciation schedules
* prepare variance analyses for assigned properties in collaboration with property management teams
* ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and lease agreements
* partner with property management teams to provide financial insights and resolve accounting-related issues
* assist with external audits and tax filings by providing schedules and support documentation
* utilize advanced excel functions for data analysis and reporting
* preferred: experience with yardi or similar property management/accounting software
requirements
* bachelor's degree in accounting
* minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in property accounting
* strong knowledge of u.s. Gaap
* advanced excel proficiency (pivot tables, vlookup, complex formulas)
* high attention to detail and strong analytical skills
* excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
* advanced english proficiency (written and verbal)
* preferred: experience in senior housing, real estate, hospitality, or healthcare
