position overview
based in our mexico city office, the accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of invenergy's development, construction and operational assets in mexico.
you will be part of our mexico city accounting team, who is responsible to close the books and keep records of all accounting entries related to invenergy's entities and projects accurately and efficiently.
the individual must be a self-starter, well organized, be able to prioritize and multi-task and enjoy the challenge of taking on new and exciting opportunities.
*responsibilities*:
- prepare and review financial statements, including all monthly journal entries, to verify account balances for accuracy and reasonableness.- complete the month end closing process and deliver financial statement in a timely manner.- prepare account reconciliation workbooks to support balance sheet and income statement balances and activity.- ensure accuracy of all general ledger information for the entire chart of accounts for all entities for which you would be responsible.- prepare and review journal entries- support our bank reconciliation process.- support with various accounts payable processes (managing requisition/purchase order process, validation that invoices are compliant, prepare invoices for payment, etc.
).- support asset manager and portfolio finance manager to maintain compliance with project debt and equity agreements.- assist with annual audit work papers and audit report preparation.- contribute to the development of accounting policies and procedures.
*required skills*:
- bachelor's degree in accounting or related- 3 + years of relevant experience- bilingual in spanish and english.- multi-site organization or public accounting firm experience preferred.- ability to adhere to monthly, quarterly and annual department driven deadlines.- existing understanding and knowledge of ifrs and us gaap.
