job summary

our u.s.-based client is a digital marketing agency specializing exclusively in helping dental practices grow through strategic online marketing. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in miami, florida, the company provides services such as website design, seo, paid advertising, and patient acquisition strategies tailored specifically to dentists.

we are hiring a head of paid ads to own the performance, scalability, and operational integrity of all paid media across the agency. This role is accountable for portfolio-level outcomes, not individual accounts. You will design, enforce, and continuously improve the systems that allow campaign managers to deliver predictable, high-quality lead flow for dental practices at scale.

google ads and google local services ads (lsa) are the primary engines of performance. In addition, this role owns the strategic oversight and performance management of secondary paid channels—including meta ads (facebook/instagram), microsoft advertising (bing), and select third-party ad vendors—ensuring each channel earns its place in the mix.

this is a hands-on leadership role. While you will not manage day-to-day optimizations on every account, you must be deeply fluent in google ads and lsas and capable of stepping in when performance, risk, or complexity demands it.

you will partner closely with account management, revops, and leadership to align paid media execution with business goals, margins, and growth.

core responsibilities
* portfolio-level performance ownership: own aggregate performance across all paid media accounts
* define cpa, lead quality, and pacing benchmarks by service type (implants, all-on-4, invisalign, etc.)
* identify systemic performance issues and correct them across accounts
* balance growth, efficiency, and stability across the entire book of business
* systems, frameworks & standardization: design and maintain standardized account structures, naming conventions, and campaign architectures
* create repeatable playbooks for common scenarios: new account launches; relaunches and cleanups; scaling and budget increases; performance declines and recovery
* define approved vs non-approved tactics
* continuously refine frameworks based on real performance data
* strategic multi-channel ownership: own the strategy, standards, and performance expectations for google ads (primary), google local services ads (primary), meta ads (facebook & instagram), microsoft advertising (bing), and select third-party advertising vendors
* define the role each channel plays in the overall lead-generation ecosystem
* decide when secondary channels are appropriate—and when they are not
* ensure secondary channels support (not distract from) google-led performance
* set guardrails, kpis, and success criteria for each channel
* evaluate new channels and vendor offerings before adoption
* recommend expansion, consolidation, or removal of vendors based on results
* team leadership & quality control: hire, train, and develop paid media campaign managers; define role expectations, capacity models, and performance scorecards
* review work selectively to audit judgment, not micromanage execution
* coach campaign managers on decision-making, tradeoffs, and prioritization
* build operators who can scale within frameworks—not dependency on you
* budget governance & risk management: own portfolio-level budget pacing and spend discipline; define safeguards to prevent overspend, underdelivery, or compliance issues
* establish escalation protocols for account suspensions, tracking failures, data anomalies, and vendor-related risks
* reduce preventable issues through process, automation, and qa systems

this role protects revenue, trust, and continuity.

* managing individual client relationships
* daily keyword-level optimizations across all accounts
* creative direction based on aesthetics
* acting as a vendor sales liaison
* absorbing vendor-driven strategy without independent validation
* chasing tasks or functioning as a project manager
required experience & skills

must-have

* 5–8+ years managing google ads for local lead generation
* deep, hands-on experience with google ads editor and lsas
* proven experience leading paid media teams
* experience overseeing multiple paid channels with a clear primary/secondary hierarchy
* strong judgment around budget allocation, scaling, and risk
* ability to design systems and frameworks—not just execute tactics
* comfort owning outcomes without hiding behind reports
* ability to push back on bad ideas, including internal requests

nice-to-have

* dental or healthcare marketing specialization
* experience managing 100+ accounts or $1m+/month in spend
* hands-on experience with meta ads or microsoft advertising for local lead generation
* experience auditing or replacing underperforming ad vendors
* exposure to revops, crm attribution, or call tracking systems
* familiarity with zoho analytics
