Summary
the supply chain manager (scm) handles transactional work on the accounts and collaborates closely with transportation providers (carriers) and internal support teams to identify opportunities for improvement. The scm serves as the primary transactional daily contact and performs customer service at the plant level. The scm plays a key role in achieving protrans objectives by contributing to the identification, analysis, and development of supply chain solutions to enhance the customer’s experience.
essential duties and responsibilities
1. communicate with tl carriers to confirm pickups and delivery exceptions, and perform check calls in protrans’ tms system.
2. identify international routes per supplier/customer, coordinate with transfer, us, and mx brokers to ensure timely crossing, and notify customers of any customs process deviations at the border.
3. arrange expedite shipment needs for customers and communicate effectively with protrans’ expedite team.
4. assist customer plants with resolving daily operational issues.
5. escalate service level issues to the operations manager.
6. communicate holiday schedules and internal adjustments to customers and staff as necessary.
7. ensure customers are aware of any performance exceptions or delays.
8. distribute reports as necessary (daily, weekly, monthly).
9. work with the accounts receivable team to ensure timely billing processes.
additional responsibilities for 3pl accounts
1. understand the logistics plan for each customer, and manage changes or adjustments accordingly.
2. enter bid requests as needed to accommodate plan changes.
3. handle unplanned requests to meet customer needs.
qualifications
successful performance in this role requires:

* serving as a key point of contact between protrans and the customer.

* compliance with customs and c-tpat regulations.
* adaptability to changing logistics circumstances.
* strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks and projects.
education and experience
* at least 1 year of experience in logistics or supply chain, or a bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field.
* automotive logistics experience is preferred but not required.
* willingness to travel nationally and internationally within the protrans network.
* experience with web-based business intelligence tools and microsoft office.
language skills
proficiency in spoken and written english is required; bilingual abilities in spanish are preferred.
