Key responsibilities:
* structural & mep engineering support:
* review structural and mep plans for code compliance (ibc, nec, ipc, iecc) and constructability; coordinate redlines and updates with remote engineers; translate technical designs into actionable guidance for production teams.
* take-offs & bom preparation:
* produce precise material take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings; collaborated on accurate, production-ready bills of materials (bom); help develop standardized component libraries and track substitutions.
* production floor support:
* act as the on-site engineering liaison during mep system installation; resolved real-time layout and integration issues; escalate critical concerns to remote engineering for fast resolution.
* state inspection & certification coordination:
* representengineering during modular certification inspections; conductpre-inspection walkthroughs and coordinate issue resolution; provide documentation and real-time support to inspectors.
* engineering manager assistance:
* support the engineering manager with technical task tracking, issue resolution, and communication between site teams and remote engineers; ensured engineering activities aligned with project schedules.
* cross-department collaboration:
* work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to maintain design intent and code compliance; participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives based on field feedback.
requirements:
* strong understanding of structural systems and mep (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems.
* ability to interpret and apply redlines to technical drawings.
* knowledge of relevant building codes and standards, including:
* ibc (international building code)
* nec (national electrical code)
* ipc (international plumbing code)
* iecc (international energy conservation code)
* proficiency in material take-offs and bill of materials (bom) preparation from architectural, structural, and mep drawings.
* capability to translate technical drawings into actionable instructions for production teams.
* experience working with autocad, revit, or other relevant cad software, familiarity with u.s building
