role
the income auditor is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of all revenue generated by the hotel. To achieve this, they perform the daily audit of transactions, validate system interfaces, reconcile revenue, review operational variances, and ensure compliance with corporate policies, usali standards, and established internal controls.
additionally, the role ensures that the daily revenue report (drr), the monthly profit and loss statement (p&l), and the financial statements fairly and accurately reflect revenue in accordance with applicable accounting principles.
responsibilities
* review and audit the daily revenue report (drr) generated by the pms system (opera, infor, protel, or others), verifying the integrity and consistency of the reported information.
* validate all revenue corresponding to the following operational areas: rooms, food & beverage (f&b outlets), spa and wellness retail, and activities such as banquets and events.
* confirm that sales are properly classified by department in accordance with the guidelines established by usali.
* audit the night audit process, ensuring that all folios have been properly closed in accordance with established procedures.
* review corrections, voids, rebates, discounts, complimentary services, and manual adjustments, ensuring they are supported by proper documentation and the corresponding authorization.
* validate that packages are correctly calculated and properly allocated according to their established components (package breakdown).
* analyze and follow up on discrepancies between recorded charges and actual consumption reflected in the pos and pms systems, ensuring their timely clarification and resolution.
* review and reconcile daily: bank deposits, cash reported by cashiers, credit card merchant statements, transfers, group deposits, wire transfers, and electronic invoicing (cfdi in mexico).
* participate in the monthly closing process by preparing revenue journal entries, reconciling revenue vs. accounting records, and performing month-to-date and year-to-date variance analysis.
* verify that contracts, banquet event orders (beos), and rate agreements are correctly applied.
requirements
* bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration (preferred).
* 2–4 years of experience in revenue auditing or accounting roles within the luxury hospitality industry.
* intermediate to advanced english proficiency (corporate reporting).
* knowledge of cash handling, payment methods, and front office procedures.
* proficiency in pms systems (opera, protel, infor), pos systems (micros/simphony), spa systems, and accounting systems.
* in-depth knowledge of usali (rooms, f&b, and non-operating income).
* advanced excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data validation).
* knowledge of internal controls (sox / iia standards). Familiarity with local tax requirements (mexico: cfdi, supplements, advance payments, vat).
