About the role
the assistant director of finance assists the director of finance in the administration of all financial aspects of the resort's operation, ensuring that all local and corporate policies and procedures are observed and applied. In this role, you will supervise the day-to-day operations of the finance department. Ultimately, the assistant director of finance is responsible for safeguarding hotel assets and financial resources, directly contributing toward maximizing hotel profitability.
what you will do
* support the director of finance in overseeing all accounting and finance operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and financial standards.
* supervise and guide the day-to-day activities of the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
* lead the month-end closing process, including financial statement preparation, accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with gaap and corporate requirements.
* prepare and monitor the daily cash position report and ensure effective management and investment of excess funds in line with corporate guidelines.
* assist in the preparation, coordination, and analysis of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning processes.
* oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns, as well as other statutory reporting requirements.
* ensure the accuracy of liabilities related to management fees, incentive fees, marketing fees, royalties, and other revenue/profit-related obligations.
* review and ensure completion of monthly and quarterly balance sheet and bank reconciliations, addressing all reconciling items promptly.
* coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with financial controls and audit requirements.
* monitor hotel expenses and financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost control while maintaining service excellence and guest satisfaction.
* oversee operating equipment and supply inventories in accordance with corporate policies and established procedures.
* collaborate with operational departments to provide financial guidance and support business decision‑making.
* maintain a working knowledge of hotel, residential, golf, or related entity accounting as applicable to the property's operations.
what you bring
* bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
* minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance leadership role within four seasons or a similar luxury hospitality organization.
* strong knowledge of financial accounting, month‑end close processes, financial reporting, accruals, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
* proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and mentor high‑performing teams.
* strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
* solid business acumen and a proactive approach to improving financial processes and operational efficiency.
* experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash management, tax compliance, and audit coordination.
* ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to the evolving needs of a fast‑paced hospitality environment.
* excellent written and verbal communication skills in both english and spanish.
* proficiency in microsoft office suite; experience with birchstreet, blackline, sun systems, microsoft dynamics 365, onestream, focus, micros, opera, and abhrilsoft is preferred.
* flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as business needs require.

* must possess legal work authorization in mexico.

schedule & hours
full‑time position. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on operational needs.
