*battery disconnect unit engineer*
*responsibilities*:
- manage the bdu releasing life cycle process from program initiation to product launch
- oversee the selection and integration of bdu electrical components, ensuring quality and performance standards are met
- efficiently resolve critical issues related to bdu components and systems
- develop and maintain documentation for bdu components, testing processes, and compliance records
- manage bdu hardware and software interfaces, ensuring seamless integration with overall vehicle systems
- ensure compliance with safety standards, including functional safety requirements and bdu diagnostic functionalities
- contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating lessons learned from previous projects into current development processes
*requirements*:
- experience: 3 to 5 years in battery disconnect unit (bdu) engineering for electric vehicles (evs).
- educational background: bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
*technical proficiency*:
- in-depth knowledge of bdu components, including contactors, pre-charging contactors and resistors, current sensors, fuses, pyro fuses, high voltage (hv) bus bars, wiring, cooling systems, heat sinks, thermal interface materials, and bdu enclosure requirements.
- experience with cad systems, particularly teamcenter/nx, for drawing and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (gd&t).- strong background in design failure mode and effects analysis (dfmea), design for six sigma (dfss), design verification plan & report (dvp&r), and reactive problem-solving.
*project management*:
- proven ability to initiate component sourcing, conduct supplier technical reviews, and lead production development meetings.
- experience overseeing design reviews and providing support during pilot and launch stages.
*safety and compliance*:
- knowledge of functional safety practices, fuse and contactor sizing, worst-case analysis of ee components and systems, sizing of creepage and clearance, and ingression protection.
*testing and validation*:
- experience with bdu testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
