aig travel guard is a provider of travel insurance plans and assistance services covering travelers worldwide through each of the 7 centers we have in different parts of the world. From our service center based in mexico city we provide support to lac, spain and portugal.

Aig travel guard the plans offer coverage for vacation and trip cancellation, travel interruptions and delays, emergency medical and health expenses, lost baggage and more. We provide support to both leisure and corporate travelers all around the globe.

About the role

what you need to know:
the latin american region (lar) claims manager supports and leads adjusters and support coordinators in the claims unit. The claims manager drives best practices in claims handling performance to produce optimal claims outcomes, customer service, and the technical and professional development of their team. The claims manager is the key escalation point within the organization for claims decisions and claims adjudication.

The lar claims manager is responsible for:

- managing the allocation of claims within their complex team of adjusters
- providing a technical referral point for team members and manage performance
- executing strategic initiatives within their complex team
- ensuring complex ‘best practice’ is maintained within their complex team
- driving performance through required criteria
- embedding use of balance scorecard/kpis within team
- guarantee agreed slas are either met or exceeded
- effective resolution of complex level claims handled by team adjusters
- accurate and consistent reserving and financial control of claims in complex team
- mitigation of indemnity and expense spend for complex claims within their team
- performance manage the team to maximize best practice compliance and minimize lost economic opportunity within complex claims segment
- personal development / succession planning for individuals within the complex team
- managing compliance with governance standards and regulatory requirements within the complex team
- ensuring proactive and effective communication to all relevant stakeholders and claimants is delivered whether verbally, electronically or via accurate mi on a frequent basis

what we’re looking for:

- experience:

- 3-5+ years of experience in a claim’s environment, preferably with international services is desirable, but not required.
- bilingual in spanish and english required, trilingual in portuguese, spanish and english preferred
- intermediate knowledge of o365 products (excel, sharepoint, forms, powerpoint)
- bachelor’s degree or extensive leadership experience required
- proven ability to effectively manage team members
- ability to positively influence, in a multi-cultural environment, stakeholders at every level both internally and externally
- broad range of leadership competencies, from direction and pace setting to coaching and effective listening
- fully developed specialist knowledge in (lob) technical claims topics
- policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
- must have a strong orientation to problem solving and sense of urgency
- must possess clear, concise, and professional verbal and written communication abilities
