Overview join to apply for the cost modeling programmer role at corning incorporated. Corning is one of the world’s leading innovators in glass, ceramic, and materials science. From the depths of the ocean to the farthest reaches of space, our technologies push the boundaries of what’s possible. Our optical communications segment has evolved to provide industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry, including carrier network and enterprise network products. Role purpose designing, coding, and debugging an advanced cost modeling tool tailored for manufacturing processes proposals, using different variables and applying metrics to identify desirable paths. Key responsibilities design, develop, and implement a robust cost model for manufacturing, using appropriate programming languages and frameworks. Ensure the model is modular, scalable, and capable of handling multiple variables and complex scenarios. Program the model to allow cost engineers to run scenario-based simulations, test variable combinations, and analyze "what-if" scenarios. Incorporate optimization algorithms to identify cost-saving opportunities and key drivers of manufacturing costs. Collaborate with cost engineers, manufacturing experts, and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the model meets end-user needs. Experiences / education - required bachelor's in systems, computer science or other engineering / technical field of study. 5 years of related experience in manufacturing. Proven experience in programming and software development, with a focus on building analytical or cost models. Proficiency in programming languages such as python, r, matlab, or similar tools for data modeling and analysis. Knowledge of databases and data integration (sql, nosql) is a plus. Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and control. Self-motivated, independent, flexible, quick learner. Proficiency with key pc software (word, excel, powerpoint). Ability to deliver under tight deadlines and handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks. Proficient english. Sound decision-making and prioritization skills. Experiences / education - desired capacity analysis value stream mapping sap knowledge project management experience demonstrated delivery of results through project with cost reduction, methodologies and organizational leadership. Cost modeling experience managing different scenarios and ambiguity manufacturing business processes acumen data analytical software (spss, minitab, spc xl) knowledge of manufacturing accounting and control familiarity with manufacturing software tools (e.g., erp systems, cad software) and their integration with cost models benefits company-wide bonuses and long-term incentives align with key business results and ensure you are rewarded when the company performs well.
