About the role
we are seeking a highly skilled as/400 (ibm iseries) developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing, developing, and supporting applications on the as/400 platform, including rpg, cl, and db2. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions that support business processes.
key responsibilities
* design, develop, test, and maintain applications on the as/400 (ibm iseries) platform.
* write and debug programs using rpg (rpgle, rpg free), cl, sql, and db2/400.
* analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
* maintain and enhance existing as/400 applications and workflows.
* collaborate with business users and technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
* perform system integrations, data migrations, and performance tuning.
* ensure coding standards, documentation, and best practices are followed.
* provide on-call support when required.
required qualifications
* bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* 3+ years of hands-on experience with as/400 development.
* strong expertise with rpg, rpg ile, rpg free, and cl programming.
* proficiency in db2/400, sql, and file structures on the as/400 platform.
* experience with change management tools (e.g., turnover, aldon, or similar).
* strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* good communication skills in english.
preferred qualifications
* experience with api integrations, web services, or modernization of as/400 systems.
* knowledge of edi, batch processing, or financial modules.
* familiarity with agile methodologies.
* experience supporting production environments.
