Key responsibilities:
regulatory compliance:
* monitor and interpret international trade regulations, including export/import laws, tariffs, and sanctions.
* ensure compliance with the export administration regulations (ear), international traffic in arms regulations (itar), office of foreign assets control (ofac) regulations, and other relevant trade laws.
documentation and reporting:
* prepare and maintain all necessary documentation for import/export activities.
* ensure accurate classification of products (us-mex)
* file necessary export/import declarations and licenses with government agencies.
internal audits and training:
* conduct internal audits of trade compliance practices and procedures.
* identify and address areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
* develop and deliver training programs for employees on trade compliance policies and procedures.
risk management:
* evaluate and mitigate risks related to international trade activities.
* assist in the development and implementation of trade compliance policies and procedures.
* provide guidance on potential compliance risks and recommend strategies to minimize exposure.
collaboration and communication:
* work closely with internal departments, including legal, logistics, procurement, and finance, to ensure compliance with trade regulations.
* serve as a point of contact for customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other external partners.
* respond to trade compliance inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
qualifications:
education: bachelor’s degree in international trade, business administration, law, or a related field.
experience:
* minimum of 5 years of experience in trade compliance and customs.
* experience with mex and u.s. export/import regulations and international trade laws.
* experience on annex 30 and annex 24
* experience related to certifications as vat, oea and ctpat.
skills:
* strong understanding of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
* excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* strong knowledge and management of sap and prisma software
* proficiency in microsoft office suite (word, excel, powerpoint).
* english bilingual.
desired qualifications:
* professional certification in international trade agreements
* experience in the management of an immex
* knowledge of global trade management systems and erp systems.
