Job title: procurement specialist
responsible for planning, purchasing, and expediting critical materials and components necessary for the organization. This role requires extensive knowledge and experience, managing a wide range of commodities including pcb’s, electromechanical, and electronic components used in manufacturing pcba’s, and providing guidance to other buyers.
key responsibilities:
1. plan, purchase, and expedite materials, equipment, and services on broad assignments involving critical items. Manage all purchasing and planning data in the erp system.
2. provide guidance and training to buyers in accordance with procurement policies set by the materials manager.
3. participate actively in supplier selection and assessment, seek new sources of supply, perform performance evaluations, and generate on-time delivery reports.
4. assess and evaluate suppliers, conduct performance reviews, ensure contract compliance, and undertake performance improvement activities.
5. ensure continuous supply of goods and materials, communicate supply issues that could impact operations.
6. research opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement processes.
7. drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers and within purchasing practices.
8. maintain kpi metrics on supplier performance and delivery.
9. solicit competitive quotations, analyze total costs, and select the best value options.
10. negotiate contracts, prices, and terms of business, seeking savings through best practices.
11. analyze purchase price variances and assist in developing standard costs.
12. monitor and report on departmental cost savings.
13. resolve issues related to price, quality, delivery, or invoices with suppliers.
14. deliver briefs, updates, and reports as needed.
15. develop strategies to improve operational efficiency and support continuous improvement.
16. ensure compliance with legal practices, iso standards, and company policies.
experience and skills:
* minimum 3 years' experience purchasing electronics, electronic components, wiring harnesses, and pcb/pcba.
* degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
* experience with mrp systems.
* strong negotiation, sourcing, and supplier relationship skills.
* leadership qualities and effective communication skills for training and guiding buyers.
* experience with long-term agreements, kanban, and jit purchasing.
* application of continuous improvement techniques.
* adherence to internal policies and procedures.
* strong interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and leadership capability.
* proactive, resilient, self-motivated, and capable of working under pressure.
