main duties, responsibilities, and expectations
* coordinate and establish activities related to safety and environmental procedures and/or programs under their responsibility to ensure compliance with internal and applicable legal requirements
* assign tasks, activities, and responsibilities to personnel under their supervision to ensure compliance with procedures, legal requirements, and other applicable wnc standards
* participate in the development and maintenance of the wnc operating system at all stages
* actively participate in daily operational meetings (accountability meetings) in various production areas, responding promptly and effectively to problem resolution within their scope of responsibility
* conduct inspections and gemba walks focused on identifying and correcting operational and safety issues both within and outside their area of responsibility, as well as environmental issues and contingency prevention aspects
* maintain control of permits and official reports related to legal requirements under their responsibility
* represent the company in environmental matters as required
* supervise work carried out by different company departments in safety and environmental matters, such as hazardous waste management, loto, machine guarding, etc.
* develop safety and environmental training materials and deliver training in accordance with hse requirements
* attend environmental inspections by government authorities and provide support during visits from other governmental agencies
* participate in the site emergency response program
* participate in the health and safety committee
* take part in continuous improvement projects related to hse, aiming to reduce risks, minimize environmental impact, and lower costs, while involving their team in these initiatives
* participate in internal and/or external audits of the environmental management system and other hse-related systems
* act as an internal auditor for the environmental management system and other hse systems
* contribute to achieving environmental management system objectives and hse kpis
* ensure compliance with legal requirements related to health, safety, and environment within their scope
* develop procedures and reference guides to meet hse requirements
* actively participate in the implementation and maintenance of the environmental management system and other hse systems
* promote a culture of environmental care, safety, and quality
knowledge, education, and experience
* completed studies in engineering, preferably environmental or chemical
* intermediate to advanced proficiency in english
* 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position
* knowledge of documentation procedures required by official agencies related to safety, environment, and health (e.g., cofepris)
* risk management and prioritization in accordance with applicable legal requirements
* knowledge of environmental laws and regulations at federal, state, and municipal levels; understanding of legislation related to safety and civil protection
* experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., rps, 5 whys, fishbone diagram)
* knowledge of the structure and function of emergency brigades (first aid, evacuation, fire response)
* experience handling inspections from government agencies related to health, safety, and environment
* knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and tools
* experience participating in environmental or occupational health and safety management systems
* knowledge of iso standards: iso 9001:2015, iso 14001, and iso 45001
* experience in handling hazardous waste movements (returns / national and international)
* experience in personnel management
