adjunct faculty are paid on the adjunct college salary schedules. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until all required documentation has been submitted.

the position
part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. Assignments may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes. Applicants must live within commuting distance to san diego.
major responsibilities
* teach scheduled lecture and laboratory courses.
* provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
* maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
* provide quality instruction and create an environment that encourages free discussion of ideas.
* respond to students outside of class as required.
qualifications
* master’s degree in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism; or
* bachelor’s degree in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism and a master’s degree in english history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, or a related social science or business field; or
* possession of a california community college instructor credential (valid for life) in communication services and related technologies, including printing; or
* the equivalent.
desired qualifications
completion of a request for equivalency form and attachment of a professional equivalency evaluation may satisfy missing qualifications.

all selected candidates must complete the following prior to employment:
* submit official college transcripts.
* provide a certificate of tuberculosis exam for initial appointment (renewable every 4 years).
* have fingerprints taken by a live scan computer at the district’s expense (clearance required before first day of employment).
* present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the united states.
