overview
we are seeking an accountant team lead to join our high-impact finance operations team. This is not a role for a generalist; it is for a technical functional owner of the accounting production engine.
your objective is to ensure that every financial statement delivered by your pod is technically accurate, perfectly reconciled, and ready for ceo-level review. Leadership in this position is defined by technical governance, operational efficiency, and the utilization of data to drive team performance. We believe that structure creates freedom.
this person will combine technical accounting expertise, process mastery, and leadership skills, serving as both a people manager and a layer of review for all financial statements produced.
main responsibilities
* review and approve financial statements produced by your pod, sometimes at a high level, sometimes in full detail. Ensure statements are board-ready and ceo-ready.
* serve as the primary technical resource for the team, troubleshooting complex accounting issues during month-end close.
* maintain accuracy and integrity standards across all client accounts using the xenett accuracy framework.
* manage a team of 8–12 accountants, including one-on-ones, weekly workflow check-ins, assigning client accounts, and monitoring kpis.
* lead weekly leadership team meetings and participate in cross-functional coordination.
* facilitate eos-driven goal-setting, quarterly rocks, and problem-solving (ids) sessions.
* cultivate executive presence and a culture of accountability, ensuring the team meets deadlines with precision.
* standardize workflows, break down complex processes into repeatable steps, and identify "broken" steps to fix.
* implement "small-win" process efficiencies and technology-driven improvements.
* collaborate with operations on automation, integration, and ai initiatives to streamline accounting tasks.
* maintain mastery of sops and service delivery architecture, ensuring consistent execution.
requirements
* professional leadership: 3+ years managing teams in professional services, multi-client, or consulting environments.
* accounting expertise: deep knowledge of management accounting and financial statement production, ideally in cpg, manufacturing, or food & beverage industries.
* system proficiency: expert in quickbooks, karbon, xenett, and other cpg financial tech tools.
* technical skills: advanced inventory accounting, cogs, valuation, physical-to-digital reconciliation, and management reporting.
* process orientation: ability to standardize, measure, and optimize workflows. Strong problem-solving mindset.
* accountability & executive presence: comfortable working cross-functionally, speaking up in leadership meetings, and owning team goals.
* experience working for us companies.
nice to have
* public accounting experience.
* experience scaling teams and processes in remote environments.
* familiarity with eos framework and managing rocks / ids sessions.
