*job duties*:
provide support and leadership to health promotion coordinators and wellness committees for the development and implementation of local health promotion initiatives. Assist facilities in developing wellness committees and serves in an advisory capacity for these committees. Establish guidelines for integration of healthy balance program with wellness coordinator at facilities. Develop tools to measure utilization of programs at the facility level. Ensure copyright laws are followed appropriately for wellness programs that are developed for caterpillar employees. For example, dietetic interns have to sign an agreement in this matter. Additionally, there are copyright rules that need to be followed when using recipes for the chef’s corner (i.e. - can only use 10 recipes per year from certain sources (ex. All recipes) and they have to be sourced on the recipe).
Research and create health promotion program templates that are “guidelines” for healthy balance coordinators to follow to run a wellness event (i.e. nutrition program, exercise program, lunch and learn, health fair, etc.). This template was designed to be the same for each wellness event for ease in the coordinators to run an event with mínimal assistance. The template includes the purpose of the wellness event, what materials are needed, what needs to be done in the weeks before the wellness event is launched, resources, etc. Provide support through regular interaction and communication with coordinators and wellness teams to sustain program goals.
Develop and manage communications and relationships with site coordinators worldwide. Prepare and distribute monthly coordinator communication and additional communications as needed to maintain program visibility and support caterpillar health initiatives. Corporate medical, as well as healthy balance, is working to reach out to caterpillar locations globally to promote wellness worldwide. One example of the results of these efforts is this position will now be providing nutritional guidance for diabetics in india.
Manage up to 10 interns per year. Provide training to interns regarding appropriate nutrition education and wellness projects at caterpillar. Responsible for coordinating and training of 5 interns each semester in the area of corporate wellness and teaching them how a registered dietitian can have an integral part in helping employees with their health through nutrition consulting, wellness programs and other health resources. Once interns have completed their rotation, a final evaluation of their performance is turned into the college dietetic internship director.
