A Day in the Life

In your role, you may work from the following Medtronic sites:

•Tijuana, Mexico
•Villalba, Puerto Rico
•Minneapolis, Minnesota

This role will require up to 25% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects

As part of the Manufacturing Innovation & Technology (MIT) team within Medtronic’s Operations Innovation organization, the Sr. Engineering Manager, integrated Center of Excellence (iCOE) Polymer Shaping & Molding (PSM), leads an integrated team advancing polymer molding, micro-molding, and additive polymer manufacturing technologies from concept through scalable deployment. This role drives both hands-on technology development and enterprise manufacturing strategy, overseeing feasibility, process development, and transfer into manufacturing and NPI while defining long-term investment and capability roadmaps. In close partnership with R&D, R&T, AME, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain, the Sr. Manager ensures the delivery of compliant, scalable, and high-impact manufacturing solutions, translating innovation into measurable operational value through a team of technical SMEs and strategic leaders.

CAREERS THAT CHANGE LIVES

1. Plans,directsand implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.

2. May develop, evaluate,implementandmaintaintechnical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standardspertaining tomaterials, techniques, or company products.

3. Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existingmanufacturingtechnologies.

4. Guides the conceptualization of newmanufacturingmethodologies, materials, machines,processesor products.

5. Directs the development of new concepts frominitialdesign to market release.

6. Manages feasibility studies of the design todetermineif capable of functioning as intended.

7. Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases ofmanufacturingtechnologyresearch and development.

8. Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensuretimelydelivery.

9. Selects,developsand evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)

10. 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree

11. 5+ years of managerial experience

NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)

12. Deep expertise in polymer molding, micro-molding, and/or additive polymer manufacturing technologies

13. Experience developing and deploying manufacturing technologies from concept through commercialization or NPI

14. Demonstrated ability to build and execute technology roadmaps tied to enterprise strategy and investment planning

15. Experience working across R&D, R&T, AME, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain in a matrixed/global environment

16. Familiarity with medical device regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO) and design control processes

17. Experience with external ecosystem engagement (vendors, academia, industry partnerships) for technology scouting and development

18. Proven ability to translate technical advancements into measurable business value (cost, quality, scalability, speed)

19. Strong communication skills with experience presenting to and influencing senior leadership

20. Track record of developing high-performing technical teams and mentoring engineering talent

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$171,200.00 - $256,800.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance,Health Savings Account,Healthcare Flexible Spending Account,Life insurance, Long-term disability leave,Dependent daycare spending account,Tuition assistance/reimbursement, andSimple Steps (global well-being program).
