based in the mexico network hub, this role works under the supervision of senior team members and in coordination with copy editors, legal affairs editors, and global workflow leadership.the fact-checker ensures that published material is thoroughly vetted for factual accuracy, aligned with condé nast's editorial and ethical standards, and appropriate for its intended audience.
this role requires curiosity, skepticism, attention to detail, and a commitment to journalistic rigor.
while focused on research and verification, the fact-checker should also possess a working knowledge of copy editing principles and style guides such as the chicago manual of style and the associated press stylebook.primary responsibilitiesverify names, dates, statistics, quotes, and all factual claims across digital and print contentconduct source checks and ensure accurate citation of original materialsflag inconsistencies, unsupported assertions, or potentially misleading phrasingcollaborate with editors, writers, and legal affairs to resolve factual queriesapply cultural and contextual awareness to content involving sensitive topicstrack assignments and deadlines; communicate promptly about any blockers or delayssupport brand tone, accuracy, and clarity across platformsprovide light copy support when appropriate, particularly around clarity, grammar, or tonedesired skills & qualificationsnative-level english (spoken and written) required, with a strong command of idiomatic usage and editorial tone1–3 years of professional experience in journalism, research, fact-checking, or editorial productionstrong research skills and familiarity with reputable sourcing practicesworking knowledge of the chicago manual of style, ap stylebook, and brand-specific style guidesconversational spanish preferredexcellent judgment, communication skills, and a collaborative working stylestrong time management; ability to juggle multiple assignments under deadlinereceptive to feedback and committed to quality and accuracywhat happens next?
