job description:
assists in the management of ongoing project engineering supply chain plans, key milestones, and objectives, to ensure deliverables are aligned with customer’s operational needs and requirements. Determines project engineering non-conformance and subsequent corrective and preventive actions by documenting, investigating, and conducting root cause analysis, and successfully implementing corrective actions. Delivers capital and expense forecasts for assigned engineering projects to ensure outputs adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements. Defines process validations on project engineering processes for subsequent operational integration and supply chain implementation. Directs individual supervision of project engineering technicians by supporting and enforcing site-specific safety and industrial hygiene requirements. Implements processes to escalate in a timely manner any project engineering issues or concerns to the next management level. Coaches more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities. Understands and applies johnson & johnson’s credo and leadership imperatives in day-to-day interactions with the team.
you will be responsible for:
* executes specific automation-related capital projects from design through construction, equipment concept validation and approval.
* performs characterization, qualification, and equipment validation activities as needed to bring new automation systems into production.
* evaluates and implements new automation technologies into manufacturing operations; designs, selects, and installs hardware and software upgrades.
* troubleshoots and tests new equipment.
* monitors and analyzes data to identify areas of oncoming trouble or opportunities for improvement.
* maintains and administers manufacturing equipment control systems in support of daily process operations.
* executes machine and process improvements on automation systems post-release to support operational objectives in the areas of yield, uptime, reliability, etc.
* writes and reviews documentation (procedures, special instructions, qualification plans and reports, corrective action plans, etc.).
* ensures safe working conditions and practices in the department as well as providing support on the plant safety requirements.
* project implementation team member and manufacturing support on the different systems that are directly interconnected to the equipment.
requirements:
education:
* engineering
* masters or doctorate in science or engineering, preferably.
* bilingual (english-spanish) is required.
an advanced degree, such as an ms or an mba is preferred.
project management and strong cross-functional business experience.
6 to 8 years’ experience in the implementation and support of highly automated manufacturing systems.
required experience and skills:
* basic knowledge on the different layers from the osi model.
* experience on machine vision systems programming (cognex preferred).
* experience with opc servers and/or wincc (kepware/omniserver, etc.).
* experience with different system interconnections (tcp/ip, rs232, mpi, profibus, etc.).
* strong analytical, problem solving, and communications skills.
* experience on good documentation practices.
* language skills: bilingual (spanish & english).
desired/preferred qualifications:
* experience with sql databases (or any other database format).
* medical device or pharmaceutical industry experience.
* knowledge on equipment validation documents (sor, srs, csv, iq or equivalent).
* experience with design of experiments and statistical process control.
* documented training and/or certifications from (but not limited to) siemens, cognex or allen bradley.
