*description*
this position leads a team responsible for organizing, interpreting, and analyzing capacity and resource issues, studies, and projects to develop analytical decision support models. Analysis is related to capital investments to expand railroad capacity internationally across the kcs u.s. and mexico railroad networks and to identify network resource requirements. Responsibilities can include strategic planning, capacity planning, demand planning, forecasting, and modeling network resources (i.e., locomotives, crews and trains) using various analytical and planning tools.
This position creates and maintains optimization, statistical, and simulation models to support process improvement and network planning on an international scale across the kcs us and mexico railroad networks. It is responsible for data acquisition, data analysis, forecasting, process mapping, and process analysis using various analytical and statistical tools.
*accountabilities/job duties*
- creates and presents business analysis and simulation models
- leads process improvement modeling and simulation efforts
- develops forecast and simulation models for key resources (including track infrastructure, trains, locomotives, crews and yard/terminals) to facilitate data based decision-making
- identifies opportunities and benefits provided by modeling activities and capacity projects
- coordinates cross functional teams to prioritize capacity projects based on benefits to the network
- identifies and obtains data needed for modeling and analytical efforts
- exemplifies kcs vision, values, and culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders
*required*
- bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, in a job related major field of study
- minimum seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, including leading and managing projects or programs with outcome-focused deliverables, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- minimum one (1) year of experience directly or indirectly leading a team
*preferred*
- bachelor degree: administration, industrial or systems engineering
- experience with the use of data analysis & statistics to address business opportunities
- strong facilitation, active listening and interpersonal skills
- desired knowledge in lean / six sigma
- project management experience
- railroad operations experience
- statistical softwares: mini tab, sas/jmp, sigmaxl
- operations softwares: mcs, business objects, tm1, power bi, sap
- simulation software (simio, rtc, etc)
- bilingual in spanish
*working conditions*
- this position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of monday through friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
- this position may require mínimal travel up to 25% of the time.
