* must be able to manage environmental compliance requirements for hazardous waste, hazardous materials, air emissions and waste water
* recognizes, identifies, evaluates and controls chemical and physical hazards in the workplace and ensures compliance to noms as well as company standards. This includes the coordination and evaluation of chemical, noise and other employee exposure monitoring programs, interpretation of results and the implementation of recommended best practices
* monitors and evaluates effectiveness of site written programs, general safety rules, and overall performance of health, safety and environmental programs
* ensure that employees have the proper training as required by law, as well as education on safe work practices, proper personal protection including but not limited to orientation of new employees and organizing and directing training of safety committees
* conduct audits and inspections to ensure safety practices and procedures are being adhered to as they relate to processes, machinery and equipment and facilities and to recommend corrective action where deficiencies are found
* develops, recommends and implements eh&s programs such as hazard communication, electrical safety, ergonomics, lockout/tag out, machine guarding and blood borne pathogens to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations including documentation, reporting, training, and policy development and deployment
* develops emergency contingency plans including evacuations and management of fire suppression systems
* participate in injury investigations and perform root cause analysis for corrective actions

* bachelor's degree in health and safety, biology, environmental science, chemistry, engineering.
* employee will comply with legal requirements by adherence to requirements of existing and new regulations and legislations.

* employee will work collaboratively with others to achieve objectives and the needs of the business.
* two years of responsible professional experience in environmental, health and safety compliance.
* sound knowledge of principles and practices of both environmental and of industrial and occupational safety and health program administration pertinent to local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, rules and regulations
* ability to develop and conduct effective safety and environmental training programs
* ability to prepare reports and manuals interpreting and summarizing technical and/or complex information for use by less knowledgeable individuals
* must be able to prioritize and complete multiple and diverse work assignments with minimal direction and supervision.
* intermediate skill level in ms applications such as word, excel, outlook, powerpoint etc.
* ability to work discretely with confidential information
* excellent verbal communication skills
