*i. Core position responsibilities*
*1.welding process development & optimization*
- design welding procedures for elevator components (guide rails, support frames, structural welds), including parameter specification (current/voltage/speed), material matching (carbon steel/stainless steel), and method selection (mig/tig/laser welding).
- lead weldability assessments for new products, resolving defects like distortion control and weld porosity to comply with asme/aws d1.1 standards.
*2.technical documentation & standardization*
- develop welding instructions (wi), welding procedure specifications/procedure qualification records (wps/pqr), and inspection criteria to support iso 3834 certification and client audits (e.g., north american oems).
- maintain welding process databases, ensuring alignment with mexican nom standards and cwb audit requirements (focus: weld strength, ndt compliance).
*3.tooling design & cwb audit support*
- design/optimize welding fixtures and positioning jigs to enhance efficiency and dimensional accuracy
- serve as primary cwb audit liaison, ensuring welder certification, pqr documentation, and processes meet canadian welding bureau standards.
*4.production support & quality improvement*
- troubleshoot onsite welding defects (e.g., lack of fusion, cracking), implementing spc controls to reduce defect rates (target ppm ≤500).
- coordinate non-destructive testing (ut/mt/pt) and destructive tests with qa, leading 8d analysis for customer complaints.
*5.team training & compliance*
- train local welders in standardized operations and safety protocols (arc protection, fume extraction), complying with mexican labor law (nom-001-stps).
- monitor environmental compliance (e.g., weld fume emissions) to avoid sat (tax administration service) penalties.
*ii. Position requirements*
*1.mandatory qualifications*
*education*
- bachelor’s or higher in mechanical/materials/welding engineering;
- master’s or iwe (international welding engineer) certification preferred.
*certifications*
- active cwb welding inspector certification required;
- aws cwi or iso 9606 welder qualification a plus.
*experience*
- 3+ years in manufacturing welding engineering
- specializing in elevator/auto parts (robotic programming & weld defect analysis).
*software skills*
- proficiency in solidworks/autocad for tooling design;
- minitab for process optimization.
*languages*
- fluent spanish (essential);
- english b2+ (for cwb documentation, north american client communication).
*regulatory knowledge*
- expertise in mexican nom safety standards
- usmca rules of origin (steel tariffs)
- sat customs declarations.
