maintenance & plc programming engineer
the maintenance & plc programming engineer will play a critical role in supporting all incoming capital projects involving machining equipment, plc programming, leading equipment redesigns, and ensuring long-term equipment reliability. This position requires hands-on expertise in diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues, driving strategic maintenance initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The engineer will contribute directly to operational efficiency, maintenance, and production uptime.

key responsibilities:
* manage maintenance kpis through data-driven action plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
* program, troubleshoot, and optimize plc systems and hmis for automated processes and environmental controls.
* drive automation projects, including robotic integration and control systems for tanks and cleanroom environments.
* ensure compliance with iatf standards and safety programs (loto, ppe).
* capital projects & equipment integration: provide technical maintenance support for all new equipment related to capital projects, ensuring smooth integration and startup.
* equipment redesign & upgrades: lead redesign initiatives for outdated or failing machine components to extend equipment lifecycle and improve performance.
* preventive & predictive maintenance: conduct predictive and condition-based maintenance programs by introducing advanced diagnostic tools and data-driven methodologies.
* troubleshooting & repair supervision: diagnose complex electrical issues, oversee repair operations, and guide technicians in resolution and execution.
* process improvement: identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reduce costs, and enhance equipment efficiency and performance.
qualifications:
* bachelor's degree in mechatronics (preferred), mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (or related field).
* 3+ years of experience in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the trucking or heavy equipment industry.
* strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, diagnostic tools, and maintenance software.
