Commodity manager is responsible for the development and delivery of the sourcing strategy, commercial supplier relationship, supplier performance and cost management of assigned categories while ensuring there is no disruption to the supply chain of raw materials, components, products or services to manufacturing sites by always providing support to the company.
in this role, your responsibilities will be:
1. implement commodity strategies to procure components of the assigned commodity in north america, asia, and other world areas.
2. support achieving cost-effectiveness and setting up a consolidated supplier base for products and components as per the commodity strategy.
3. help develop, expand, and consolidate the current supply base by avoiding single source risks.
4. assist the sourcing group in the overall consolidation of insource/outsource strategies of commodities.
5. contribute to project efficiency by controlling costs and improving benefits when developing new parts.
6. supervise and handle commodity trends, market indexes, budgets, and overall constraints on supply.
7. support manufacturing sites and/or distribution centers in supplier-related issues.
8. attend business meetings and keep updated on developments.
9. act as the single source of contact between suppliers and manufacturing sites or other areas.
10. develop plans for supplier performance development, cost reduction, cost avoidance, and projected savings.
11. assist with new product introduction and the implementation of different gates.
who you are:
a supply chain professional with 6-8 years in procurement or purchasing fields with proven experience and increasing responsibilities.
for this role, you will need:
1. developing central initiatives to elevate the commodity to the organization's target level by collaborating with colleagues and cross-functional teams across various manufacturing locations. The commodity manager should coordinate actions to prevent shortages, excel with suppliers, and lead cost avoidance efforts.
preferred qualifications that set you apart:
1. demonstrated experience in strategic procurement deployment.
2. knowledge and exposure to npi/npd projects as sourcing leader.
3. negotiation skills.
4. experience handling assigned spend >$50m usd in one or different categories.
5. proven experience in supplier performance and supplier selection.
6. demonstrated knowledge in the following areas/expertise:
7. thermoforming and thermosetting plastics.
8. injection molding process for plastic, rubber, and gaskets.
9. proficiency in handling different types of resins for molding rubber and plastics.
10. strong supplier portfolio and commercial relations with resin distributors and fabricators.
11. tooling/mold fabrication experience.
12. precision glass molding processes, finishing glass processes, tempering, polishing, and sandblasting.
13. glass mold fabrication knowledge.
14. knowledge of different types of insulation material and fabrication processes.
15. ul certification experience.
16. strong supplier portfolio and relationships with suppliers in the above commodities.
17. technically skilled with pricing market trends, raw material indexing, and contract management.
