The Heath & Sustainability Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation of health, wellbeing, hygiene, safety, and environmental programs across the Hotel, with a strong focus on sustainable practices. This role plays a key part in driving the One&Only; Planet initiatives, ensuring the property actively reduces its environmental footprint while promoting responsible use of resources and long-term ecological balance.
Through effective monitoring, management, and enforcement of all related systems, the Manager will not only safeguard the highest international standards of health and sustainability, but also foster meaningful engagement with both colleagues and guests. By creating awareness, inspiring behavioral change, and integrating eco-conscious actions into daily operations, the Manager will strengthen the culture of wellbeing, responsibility, and environmental stewardship that defines One&Only; Palmilla.
- Responsibilities:
- Liaise with department heads on issues relating to the application of health and safety programs and assess each department/function development needs.
- Ensure all health and safety programs are successfully deployed and functioning to be compliant with all Local and Federal regulations.
- Develop and present function specific health, hygiene and safety training programs working in conjunction with the Learning & Development Department.
- Assist the human resources department with the documentation of work risks.
- Educate stakeholders and the public regarding the importance of sustainable management practices
- Coordinate green teams within the property
- Comply with environmental regulations at federal, state, and local levels
- Identify areas where the business could improve its sustainability practices.
- Review and upload all monthly information of the earth check program
- Carry out self-audits to monitor the environmental management system
- Manage and supervise the operation of the hotel's water bottling plant.
- Provide administrative, management and technical support to ensure Food Safety and Hygiene is best in class.
- Record and track all suppliers' hygiene certification working in collaboration with procurement.
- Investigate possible foodborne illness in coordination with the executive chef.
- Implement and maintain ISO 22000 certification to further improve food safety and hygiene.
- Attend management meetings as required and participate in functional process of the Health and Safety departments.
- Work with the Internal Audit team to ensure compliance of Kerzner Global Office guidelines.
- Monitor local competitor activities to ensure best practice alignment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department
