Job overview
the (ehs) machine safety engineer works closely with ehs, manufacturing, facilities, engineering, and maintenance teams to reduce hazards and ensure a safe working environment by leading equipment risk assessments and process hazard analysis. The engineer evaluates equipment design, suggests modifications, and develops safety improvements to support the company’s safety programs.
core responsibilities
* execute safety inspections of complex machinery and report findings to stakeholders.
* deliver msg training and assess its effectiveness.
* verify that new machinery and technologies are released in compliance with standards.
* analyze kpi trends and propose actions to close gaps.
* follow up on machine‑related observations and incidents.
* inspect new machinery after installation and before commissioning (sat); log safety issues and ensure plan for corrective actions.
* develop and implement safety improvement projects.
* validate engineering change requests related to safety.
* create kpis to measure machine safety performance.
* participate in incident investigations and root‑cause analysis using a pps (practical problem‑solving) methodology.
* identify and execute problem‑solving and continuous improvement initiatives related to machine safety.
qualifications
* proven experience in engineering environments.
* knowledge of machinery directive 2006/42/ce and norms such as iso 12100, iec 60204, iso 14120, iso 13857, iso 13849 and related type‑c norms.
* certification as a machinery safety expert (nice to have).
* understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; ability to read and interpret diagrams.
* familiarity with iso 9001, iso 45001, iso 14001 and integrated management systems, and application of osha regulations.
* experience executing risk assessments, incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action management.
* fluency in english.
* strong data management and analytical skills (six sigma tools).
* experience with power bi.
* strong problem‑solving skills, structured and self‑directed approach, collaboration, and excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

this position is based at our lego operaciones de mexico manufacturing factory located in cienega de flores, nl. The role is not remote.
