The purpose of the site tooling engineers is:
to develop new tooling and technologies for near future implementation and define program-specific strategy and content. To benchmark industry trends to applications and use cases to integrate into future model manufacturing plans, provide innovative solutions to enable product and process enhancements

responsibilities:
* investigate, develop, and vet new tooling technologies and vendors
* benchmark existing tooling technologies, vendors, and competitor strategies
* set and track tooling supplier performance targets
* lead master schedule development, tracking and coordination
* act as liaison between production, manufacturing engineering and product development teams developing new technologies, strategies, and identifying implications of new product advances in the industry.
* create, maintain, and update pfet - plan for every tool
* support investment efficiency
* support pfmea and sccaf processes (led by sit mes)
* create, maintain, and update health chart mapping
* establish content and strategy for future model studies
* establish, maintain, and update tracking of equipment pedigree/useful life for chihuahua engine plant
* provide lookahead review of assets requiring replacement within 5 years
* identify funding opportunities for useful life asset replacement/refurbishment
* develop and deliver tooling and equipment scope of works for issuance to supplier(s)
* issue purchase order(s) to supplier(s)
* support initial supplier kick offs and design reviews
* provide and develop training strategy for al tooling cross-functional teams.
* ensures that the tool setting rooms are in the best physical condition, 5s,furniture, equipment, personnel.
* plans and coordinates the annual certification of all measuring equipment used in the tool setting rooms for the correct setup of tools throughout the site
* manages and coordinates the plant's tooling cms. Generates annual contracts for the provision of cutting tool-related services.
* addresses issues related to cutting tools and coordinates investigations with the engineers in charge of each machining line. also provides support in the launch or modification of machined products.
* if required, also provides consulting services to suppliers on machining processes.
* support to tooling engineers across each line monitor costs and develop coordinated strategies to deliver goal annual savings.
