test lead responsibilities
as our test lead, you will play a critical role in driving software quality strategy, testing governance, and continuous improvement across enterprise technology solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product, engineering, release management, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality releases, strong testing coverage, and reliable application performance across multiple platforms.
you will be responsible for defining and leading the overall testing strategy, including scope, quality gates, risk-based testing approaches, exit criteria, resource planning, and release alignment. Additionally, you will oversee qa standards, processes, templates, and best practices while championing shift-left testing methodologies and promoting a quality-focused culture across teams.
you will lead manual testing activities, including functional, integration, system, uat, and exploratory testing efforts. You will ensure comprehensive test coverage through effective test case design techniques such as boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, state transition, and decision tables.
you will oversee defect triage, prioritization, root-cause analysis, and corrective action processes to support continuous quality improvement.
you will architect and maintain scalable automation frameworks across ui, api, mobile, and data testing layers using tools such as selenium, playwright, cypress, appium, espresso, xcuitest, rest assured, and postman. You will integrate automated testing into ci/cd pipelines using azure devops, github actions, and jenkins while ensuring stable environments, reliable test data management, and repeatable execution processes.
you will drive regression testing optimization by defining baseline and risk-based regression suites, continuously improving automation coverage, reducing redundant test execution, and balancing execution speed with quality coverage to provide fast and reliable feedback for releases.
you will track and communicate key quality metrics such as defect density, automation coverage, regression cycle time, and defect removal efficiency to support data-driven decision-making and delivery excellence.
qualifications
* 7–12+ years of experience in software testing, including several years leading qa teams and testing initiatives.
* hands‑on experience in manual testing, ui/api automation, and regression testing strategies.
* strong skills with automation tools such as selenium, playwright, cypress, or appium.
* experience testing apis using tools such as postman, rest assured, swagger, or openapi.
* familiarity with ci/cd environments and deployment pipelines using azure devops, github actions, or jenkins.
* experience with alm and test management tools such as azure devops, jira, testrail, xray, or zephyr.
* deep understanding of test design techniques, istqb principles, agile/scrum methodologies, sdlc, and devops practices.
* experience testing mobile, web, sap, salesforce, or client‑server applications in enterprise environments.
* analytical thinking, communication skills, and ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
* experience with advanced testing practices such as service virtualization, contract testing, test impact analysis, or analytics‑driven quality dashboards.
* knowledge of enterprise security and compliance concepts such as oauth, jwt, sso/saml, gdpr, or pii protection.
* certifications such as istqb advanced/test manager, csm, or similar quality and agile certifications.
