job description
under the general guidance of the vp of sales and/or general manager, responsible for directing, coordinating, training, and supervising the sales managers and the sales administrators in all sales-related activities. Responsible for assisting in the creation of strategies and the direct oversight of the execution of plans and tactics used to focus on increasing direct revenue for the property. Responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that revenues meet or exceed budget to maximize revenue and profits, and to improve the hotel's performance in the marketplace.
direct and manage all group and transient sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel
prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly smart goals, annual goals, sales budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required
develop rates, group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management
recruit, direct, manage, train and counsel sales staff. Oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws
participate in sales presentations, property tours and customer meetings
conduct and attend business review meetings, strategic sales meetings, management meetings and other meetings as required/ requested
represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events
participate as team player with other key executive members
be a leader and role model to all team members
supervise, administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the sales department
develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including food and beverage, guest services, front office, housekeeping and revenue management
develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and sop's, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team
develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies
meet or exceed established goals
operate the sales department within established sales expense budget
coordinate group and transient bookings to maximize profits
initiate and follow up on leads
monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within said market. Ensure sales staff is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territories
coordinate all non-group transient sales solicitations to maximize market mix
administer training in the sales department
assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner
conduct weekly sales meetings and daily line ups
devise or modify procedures to solve process problems that will result in more efficient
any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

qualifications
the individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
bachelor's degree preferred
minimum five (5) years of sales leadership experience in similar sized operation required, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel
must have comprehensive knowledge of deep knowledge of sales strategies, including transient, group, and negotiated corporate segments, catering sales, conference service and marketing management experience, guest relations and etiquette
strong understanding of brand positioning, market trends, and competitive dynamics within the luxury lifestyle hotel space, all-inclusive a plus
strong financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and analysis of sales performance metrics
advanced negotiation skills, including contract management and pricing strategies aligned with brand and profitability objectives
proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the company's values
proficiency with crm systems, sales analytics tools, and distribution platforms relevant to luxury hospitality
enter and locate work related information using computers and/or point of sale systems
ability to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screen
possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor
ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level attention to detail
maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
must be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift.
