Overview
the tool & calibration specialist qe is an expert in maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring these operate efficiently, meet production specifications, minimize downtime and achieve quality.
Responsibilities
develop calibration plans, procedures and reports, manage equipment inventory, troubleshoot equipment issues, perform repairs, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality regulations.
Oversee key elements of the quality system for quality assurance and quality control in production main assembly, sub-assembly and related areas; monitor and communicate quality information from internal and external sources; drive quality management system initiatives to enhance a quality culture.
Define and coordinate audits and assessments on products and processes to ensure outgoing products are free of defects and comply with specifications, including validation of new/changed designs, machinery, processes, fixtures, tools and equipment.
Supervise activities of engineers and interns in completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Develop and manage data analysis systems to prioritize, focus and determine root cause.
Ensure designated calibrated equipment is available and calibrations are maintained.
Non-conforming materials
oversee monitoring of quality of supplied and/or internally manufactured components and products for conformance to specifications.
Ensure appropriate metrology equipment, the correct msa, and accurate methods are followed to remove non-conforming materials from production.
Drive corrective action on non-conforming materials and secure deviations where nonconforming materials may be temporarily allowed.
Follow up on field communications and lead containment activities as required.
Corrective actions and improvements
lead projects that permanently resolve systemic issues and improve quality capabilities.
Continuously monitor and address emerging issues; prioritize, secure resources, and drive project completion.
Enhance standard work, processes, tools, measurements, checks, and training to ensure complete and consistent work.
Ensure calibrated equipment is available and calibrations are maintained; train personnel on control plan elements and sustain control plans.
Quality capability development
identify opportunities and procure measurement equipment; implement and monitor controls/processes and capabilities to improve process health, specification compliance, traceability and accountability.
Prepare justifications to secure resources for projects; train less experienced personnel in quality techniques and procedures.
Job requirement
bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or related field; equivalent acceptable.
In-depth knowledge of qsm, core tools, pfmea, control plan, quality assurance and quality preventive processes.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Demonstrated experience with similar product and/or manufacturing processes.
Understanding of company systems, processes, and procedures.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills; demonstrated project management skills.
5-7 years of experience.
Less than 10% travel required.
