description
this position provides daily supervision of staff to perform cost-effective repairs and maintenance, ensuring safe track, right of way, and facility conditions across a significant territory.
accountabilities
1. schedule and supervise crews; inspect repairs or designate inspectors.
2. oversee test cars and defect remediation (geometry, ultrasonic rail test, etc.); manage capital & operating expensed equipment (rail grinder, ballast trains, ballast cleaner, etc.).
3. ensure compliance with fra standards (213, 214, 219), testing, and inspection requirements; liaise with fra for feedback; comply with all federal, state, and local regulations; ensure dot drivers' hours of service compliance.
4. manage bid processes and supervise external contractors until project completion.
5. plan and meet budgets for overtime, materials, equipment, tools, maintenance, contractor costs, and crew expenses.
6. allocate resources for daily activities and emergencies; coordinate with dispatch, agencies, and other entities for construction, maintenance, and track shutdowns.
7. conduct accident investigations to promote safety and prevent recurrence.
8. participate in safety committees with transportation and mechanical departments.
9. be available 24/7/365.
10. work outdoors in various weather conditions.
11. apply operational excellence principles to meet business requirements; focus on customer service and contingency planning.
12. understand business metrics and foster a high-performing, engaged operational team.
required qualifications
* bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a relevant field.
* minimum five (5) years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
* must hold and maintain a valid lff (licencia federal ferroviaria) as required by the secretaria de comunicaciones y transporte.
preferred qualifications
* previous experience with cpkc.
