The role
as a mainframe network specialist, you will configure, monitor, and support enterprise network environments to ensure secure, reliable connectivity for critical business applications.
you will focus on maintaining network availability and optimal latency across mainframe and specialized platforms, including z/os, tandem, and unisys, with particular emphasis on vtam and mainframe network protocols.
in this role, you will proactively monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity and latency issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network changes and upgrades.
you will also be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring adherence to enterprise security and compliance standards.

maintain network availability and monitor latency for mainframe and specialized platform environments.
configure, support, and troubleshoot mainframe network protocols, including vtam, on z/os platforms.
analyze and resolve network connectivity and performance issues, ensuring minimal business impact.

required skills & experience
5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe network support or administration, including exposure to z/os, vtam environments.
proficiency in configuring and monitoring mainframe network protocols (e.g., vtam).
strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
understanding network security principles and enterprise compliance requirements.
familiarity with network monitoring tools and incident management processes.
preferred skills & experience
bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
intermediate english proficiency, required for technical documentation, communication with global teams, and incident reporting.
experience working in large-scale or regulated enterprise environments.
knowledge of itil-based incidents and change management processes.
ability to work independently while collaborating across infrastructure, operations, and application teams.
