Senior accountant – liabilities and expenses
¡at bupa seguros, we're looking for talented professionals like you! We're looking for a senior accountant specializing in liabilities and expenses.
responsibilities
* prepares month‑end entries ensuring the process is completed within deadlines.
* books all intercompany recharges, ensures all recharges are approved, sends out statements for all intercompany recharges generated from bgla, and ensures intercompany accounts are in balance for month end and tie to statements received/sent.
* reviews all batches related to commission and claims, identifies any errors and reports them to it; once cleared, posts all batches to the general ledger.
* ensures that operating expenses are charged to the correct cost centres and legal entities; books reclass entries if necessary.
* books all recurring accruals and identifies accruals necessary for operating expenses.
* performs a proof of cash for claims ensuring that the claim expense ties to the bank and to the policy administration system.
* ensures that all reinsurance claim gl accounts tie to the policy administration system.
* reconciles all balance‑sheet accounts and makes recommendations for potential write‑offs to management.
qualifications, training & experience
* advanced english - written and spoken
* 8‑year college degree in accounting or equivalent formal training and significant experience
* public accounting certification (cpa) preferred
* minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience
* experience working with ap, po, am and gl modules in peoplesoft
* advanced knowledge of broad‑based accounting processes and generally accepted accounting principles; ifrs preferred
* strong knowledge of microsoft applications including excel and word
* ability to work in a fast‑paced, growth environment and embrace change
* ability to work independently and within tight deadlines
* basic database management knowledge and familiarity with software such as powerbi, sql and data modelling
