The graduate trainee: engineer production and distribution position is designed to give young and fresh graduates engineers access to a practical work environment where they can learn from experts and adapt their theoretical knowledge. The trainee will be responsible for all operation and monitoring of potable and wastewater systems to ensure compliance to quality standards and statutes, provides guidance on water supply demand management, non-revenue water and customer satisfaction in the region. The trainee will also provide hands on leadership for the overall functionality and reliability of assets and equipment to ensure continuity of water supply and wastewater services in the most cost effective and environmentally safe manner.
*key competencies*:
- knowledge of water and wastewater systems including storage, dams, raw water sources, treatment, and supply.
- knowledge of the safe handling procedures of chlorine gas and other chemicals.
- knowledge of potable water quality control.
- experience in technical and engineering principles of water and wastewater infrastructure, water production, transmission, and distribution practices.
- comprehensive knowledge of plant engineering standards and constructions practices.
- expert-level skill in water treatment operations, regulatory requirements, and effective management.
- technical report writing
- bachelor’s degree in civil, chemical, water, engineering or related qualification
