the finance and operations manager is responsible for supporting the chief executive officer (ceo) in financial strategy, planning, risk management, and project implementation. This role ensures that company's financial models, investment structures, and operational processes align with carbon market standards, regulatory requirements, and sustainability best practices.
reporting directly to the ceo, the finance and operations manager will assist in financial forecasting, budgeting, risk assessment, compliance monitoring, and financial oversight of nbs project implementation. The role will work closely with finance, project management, and technical teams to ensure efficient capital allocation, cost control, and financial reporting. This position requires a strong financial background, attention to detail, and ability to optimize financial and operational workflows to support the company´s growth and financial sustainability.
key responsibilities
1. Financial strategy & business model development
* assist the ceo in refining company's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with carbon markets, investment models, and revenue growth.
* support the development of financial models and pricing strategies for carbon credits, biodiversity credits, and ecosystem service monetization.
* analyze cost structures and profitability across nbs projects, ensuring financial efficiency.
* contribute to business model innovation, identifying new revenue streams and cost-saving opportunities.
2. Financial planning, risk management & compliance
* oversee financial planning and forecasting, ensuring that budgets, expenditures, and investments align with strategic goals.
* conduct financial risk assessments, ensuring financial stability amid carbon market fluctuations.
* ensure compliance with financial regulations, carbon market requirements, and esg reporting standards.
* support audit processes and internal financial reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
* manage financial reporting tools and dashboards, improving real-time decision-making for the ceo and leadership team.
3. Supporting project development & implementation
* work closely with the technical director, project development & onsite implementation manager, and mrv manager to ensure that:
- financial planning aligns with project feasibility and investment needs
- budget allocations support project execution while ensuring cost-effectiveness
- mrv data and carbon credit projections align with revenue models and investment returns
* ensure that project-level financial risks, contingencies, and cost control measures are implemented effectively.
* support the evaluation of project financial performance, making recommendations for cost optimization and investment efficiency.
4. Operations & process optimization
* develop and implement financial and operational processes to improve efficiency and streamline budgeting, reporting, and risk management workflows.
* ensure the integration of digital finance tools to enhance operational efficiency, including accounting software, financial tracking systems, and compliance dashboards.
* optimize the workflow between finance, operations, and project execution teams, ensuring seamless collaboration.
* assist in contract negotiations and financial due diligence for project-related investments and erpas.
